Sexual Offender's Program
Midwest Christian Services has provided a Sexual Offender's Program for boys since 1996,
but we have been serving children for over forty years! MCS offers a comprehensive
treatment program for boys ages 8-18. Our average treatment duration is 12-18 months.
This program utilizes the Pathways Program for treatment of sexual offenders.
Issues that are addressed include offenses that brought the adolsecent into care,
breaking the cycle of offending and of possible past abuse, trust issues,
anger management, social competence, communication, self-esteem, and values clarification.
The youth are directly taught specialized procedures for interrupting and blocking
dysfunctional patterns of thinking.
Modified Treatment Programs for Boys with Lower Level IQs
Midwest offers modified treament programs for boys with IQs from 48 to 70 so they can excel
within this program. All of our services can be modified to meet the needs of this
population. Upon arrival, these clients will recieve an additional evaluation from our
therapist, social worker, and supervisory staff in collabortaion with family, past
treatments, schools, and social workers to structure and adapt our program to meet their
unique needs and challenges.
Individual Treatment Planning
Begins the day of admission by MCS staff in consultation with the referral source, family,
and adolescent ot establish individual goals, objectives, and define treatment strategies.
Individual Therapy
One-to-One sessions are provided at least weekly. The focus is on abuse issues, emotion
regulation, trauma issues, and cognitive restructuring.
Group Therapy
is provided three hours a week. The focus is on denial, irrational thought patterns,
dysfunctional behaviorl, and relapse prevention.
Skill Development
Individual and group sessions focus on self-esteem, sexuality, anger management, boundaries,
positive relationships, and social skills. We also provide instruction on personal
hygiene and independent living skills.
Family Therapy
sessions process denail, gain support for the adolescent's program, and facilitate an
effective aftercare program.
School
Many of the children attend public school accompanied by staff liaisons that monitor the
child's activity and assist with individual tutoring needs. Other children who require
more individual attention attend class on premises in classes conducted by the school
district.
Psychiatric Services
provided by contract services with psychiatrists and agencies in the area ensure professional
psychiatric evaluation and treatment.
Medical Services
and specialists, dental and optometry services are utilized within the community.
Structured Recreation Activites
Which utilize on-campus gymnasium and recreation areas, as well as off-campus resources,
develop interpersonal participation and cooperation skills.
